Statewide Organizations

Disability Network/Michigan - is the state association for Centers for Independent Living in Michigan.  Disability Network Southwest Michigan is a member.

SILC - The Statewide Independent Living Council is a Governor-appointed council comprised of a majority of people with disabilities.  It is charged with developing and submitting the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL). The SPIL establishes a blueprint for present and future independent living programs and services in Michigan.

UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) Michigan - is a non-profit advocacy organization that works for life without limits for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.

ARC Michigan - exists to empower local chapters of The Arc to assure that citizens with developmental disabilities are valued and that they and their families can participate fully in and contribute to the life of their community.

Learning Disabilities Association of Michigan - strives to enhance the quality of life for all individuals with learning disabilities and their families through advocacy, education, training, service and support of research.

Michigan Commission on Disability Concerns - The Michigan Commission on Disability Concerns which includes the Division on Deaf and Hard of Hearing responds to and advocates on behalf of Michigan's 1.9 million people with disabilities.

Michigan Protection & Advocacy Services (MPAS) - The mission of MPAS is to advocate and protect the legal rights of people with disabilities.

Michigan Rehabilitation Services -  Michigan Rehabilitation Services partners with individuals and employers to achieve quality employment outcomes and independence for persons with disabilities.

Michigan Commission for the Blind - The mission of the Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) is to provide opportunity to individuals who are blind or visually impaired to achieve employability and/or function independently in society.

Michigan Disability Rights Coalition - a fiesty and non-compliant disability rights organization.

NAMI - Michigan (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) -NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families.

Independence Today is the newspaper of the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) & the Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley (ILCHV).
