Disability Blogs, Podcasts & More Our November 2011 Disability Roundtable topic was Get Connected: The Disability Community Online. We were surprised by the amount of interest and so we committed to having a section of our website devoted to the on-line disability community. Blogs are typically defined as a type of personal journal where people write about a particular topic or their personal experiences. Vlog (video-blog) is the term being used in the Deaf community to refer to blogs that are produced in American Sign Language. Podcasts are a series of audio or video files that people can subscribe to and occur at reguarly scheduled times, much like a TV news broadcast. A word of caution - blogs and podcasts are written from the perspective of the individual authors. The views and information in the links below do not necessarily reflect our disability perspective. Suggested Blogs and Podcasts to Explore Disabilityrightnow - a collaborative blog by a diverse group of young disability advocates. Independent Living USA - a collection of blogs by the edgier arm of the disability rights movement. e-ability is a collection of blogs about disability issues. Some content on this website is updated regularly; some blogs have not had recent posts. Disability & I Do - a blog started by a woman to talk about her journey down the aisle as a person with cerebral palsy that has morphed into a great blog about life with a disability. Disability Radio WorldWide is a dynamic, 30 minute weekly podcast focusing on disability in an international context. Disability Matters with Joyce Bender: talk radio podcast focused on the employment and empowerment of people with disabilities. Disability Matters is on the VoiceAmerican Channel every Tuesday from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Eastern Time.
